Nashville Sounds New Owners!

MFP Baseball is the official owner of the Nashville Sounds Class AAA baseball franchise today following approvals of a purchase agreement by the Pacific Coast League and Minor League Baseball, and review by Major League Baseball.

MFP Baseball partners Masahiro Honzawa, Steve Posner, and Frank Ward have been seeking this final approval since reaching an agreement to purchase the team in October. The leagues’ approvals hinged on an extensive application and background check process.

“We are looking forward to the 2009 season as the new owners of this great franchise,” Ward said of the approval. “Nashville has a great baseball tradition, and our goal as owners of the team is to continue that tradition and gain the support of our loyal fans and the business community. I am so thankful for the change! It had seem that the previous owners had just lost site of the Sounds fans and our community. I'm sure there was more to the story...having to deal with government and all...but, maybe having new owners we will see a rise in support for the Nashville Sounds. I love going to their games and I do love the old stadium and the vibe it gives off. Already there are big changes to make it more comfortable. Can't wait for the season to start!
